  • The permanence of architecture over time obliges buildings to deal with the natural decadence of materials, with the variation of uses, with the oscillations of taste and with the long times of nature. The book collects, through a call for papers, a heterogeneous set of texts, which show the complexity of the relationships between architecture and time. The answers include, among others, the classic question of firmitas, provisionality, maintenance, functional flexibility, renovation, reconstruction. The choice of gathering interdisciplinary contributions around a fundamental question, which constitutes a common ground capable of stimulating unexpected and interesting intersections, continues drawn from the books previously published in the series Percorsi di architettura.
